Sustainable Environmental Planning

What is Environmental Technology or Envirotec as its abbreviated to?. Environmental technology, green technology or clean technology is the application of one or more of environmental science, green chemistry, environmental monitoring and electronic devices to monitor, model and conserve the natural environment and resources, and to curb the negative impacts of human involvement.

The term is also used to describe sustainable energy generation technologies such as photovoltaics (photovoltaics is the conversion of light into electricity using semiconducting materials that exhibit the photovoltaic effect), wind turbines, bioreactors (a bioreactor is a vessel in which a chemical process is carried out which involves organisms or biochemically active substances derived from such organisms), and to describe a class of electronic devices that can promote sustainable management of resources. Sustainable development is the core of environmental technologies.  .Wikipedia

This is an exciting area with major research and development activities taking place and the UN’s Sustainable Development Agenda agreement. Especially what impact will IoT and AI have in advancing sustainable management, conservation, protection and development of the natural environment and resources. At its heart  the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015,  provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future, through the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) https://www.17sustainabledevelopmentgoals.org/, which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. There is  a 15-year plan to achieve the goals but its not advancing at the speed or pace needed.

The goals are:

Goal 1: End poverty in all its forms
Goal 2: Zero Hunger
Goal 3: Health
Goal 4: Education
Goal 5: Gender equality and women’s empowerment
Goal 6: Water and Sanitation
Goal 7: Energy
Goal 8: Economic Growth
Goal 9: Infrastructure, industrialization
Goal 10: Inequality
Goal 11: Cities
Goal 12: Sustainable consumption and production
Goal 13: Climate Change
Goal 14: Oceans
Goal 15: Biodiversity, forests, desertification
Goal 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions
Goal 17: Partnerships
